batteries

Clients often ask us "what about changing the batteries?"  Here is a quick how-to guide in battery replacement for the OptionFinder G3, Micro and Micro+ wireless keypads.

For the OptionFinder G3 keypad:

We recommend that you replace batteries every twelve months. For a 30 keypad system, it takes about 20 minutes.

You will need a small Phillips-head screw driver, and 2 new AA batteries for each keypad.  We recommend Duracell brand.

  1. Turn off the keypad by pressing the on/off switch on the front of the keypad.  It is the button on the lower right corner on the front of the keypad.
  2. On the back of the keypad, turn the screw to the left to take out the screw.  Be careful as they are small and light-weight.
  3. Squeeze the grey sides together and pull back at the same time, and the cover will pop off, opening up the battery compartment.
  4. Pop out the used batteries.
  5. Replace with two fresh AA batteries.  Alkaline batteries are recommended.
  6. A diagram of positive and negative placement of the batteries is inside the compartment.
  7. Replace the grey cover over the batteries so that the screw hole on the cover aligns with the screw hole on the white unit.
  8. Replace the screw by turning it to the right to tighten.
  9. Turn on the keypad to make sure the batteries have been placed in the keypad correctly.

For the OptionFinder Micro and Micro+ keypads:

We recommend that you replace batteries every six months.  For a 30 keypad system it takes about 15 minutes.

You will need small Phillips-head screw driver, a flat-head screwdriver, and 1 new button battery, 3V lithium, Model CR2032 for each keypad.  We recommend Sony brand.  If you need help locating a source for bulk purchase, please give us a call.

  1. On the back of the keypad, turn the screw to the left to take out the screw.  Be careful as they are small and light-weight.
  2. Pop the back off the front; you can use your finger-nail or the flat head screw-driver.
  3. Place the flat head of the screwdriver on the edge of the silver battery compartment, pushing the battery toward the open end of the compartment, moving away from the positive sign engraved on the silver battery case.   The battery slides out.   Note how you can read the battery identification.
  4. Replace with a fresh CR2032 button battery, inserting the battery in the casing so you can see the battery identification.  Replace the back cover on the front cover aligning the screw holes.
  5. Replace the screw by turning it to the right to tighten.

Voila, you are refreshed!
