You can enhance your presenation by using a few basic principles:

-Simple: One important aspect of an effective presentation is the audience’s ability to understand the information as it is delivered. Complex subject matter should be broken down for easier comprehension. Break concepts into segments to help the audience put pieces together and create a complete easy-to-understand picture.

-Purposeful: Know the primary purpose of your talk.  It it to delivery key information or introduce a skill.  Are you trying to create alignment or change opinions.  It is critical to the success of the speaker-audience relationship to structure your talk to achieve one thing well. Provide information that is perceived as relevant.  You will increase trust and attentiveness. Introducing your purpose early in the presentation and conclude with a recap or a call to action.

-Exciting: Presenting meaningful and relevant information will connect the audience with the speaker particularly if you are able to share interesting stories that touch the audience at an emotional level.  Incorporating personal experiences related to your subject matter will create engaged, empathetic, listerners.

-Elegant: Speaking to bullet points with text will give your audience the impression that you are using the screen as a teleprompter.  Use memorable images and photos.  Take time to  simplify your screens with one or two outstanding images that boost their appeal.  Avoid charts with tiny illegible text.  Draw your audience into stories, humor and real world examples.

-Charismatic: Ask your audience questions using your interactive response system and discuss the results.  Share information about yourself and others that relates directly to the material.  Tell a funny anecdote.  Play a PowerPoint quiz game designed around your topic.  Add the element of surprise to your content.  Rehearse as if you are talking to only one person.  Go over your material until you can tell the story without notes.

-Helpful: The more a presentation meets the percieved needs of the audience, the more effective it will be.  Adults want actionable relevant material they can put into practice right away.  Use your response system to do a quick needs survey and adjust the timeline of your talk to spend more time on the items of interest to attendees.  Keep the theory to a minimum and focus on tips, techniques and actionable items.

By following these presentation tips you can expect to:

-Build a personal relationship.

-Creatively present subject matter expertise.

-Communicate purpose.

-Elicit a call to action.

You will improve the effectiveness of your presentation and will captivate your audience.
